Before visiting Talbot motors, I received a quote from another mechanic. Upon a simple radiator flush done at Talbot, the charge was over 3 times (R931) the price from my original mechanic (R302). There was nothing extraordinary about the radiator flush. Talbot demanded cash payment to release the car. I paid in full, and queried the excessive costs with the owner. He dodged multiple responses. I had some vague response about labour fee going up to R400/hour. I was charged 1.5hrs labour, whereas my original quote was only 0.3hrs labour. Eventually, he reduced the labour to 0.7 hrs and refunded me R320 cash. Even after avoiding me, he belittled and blamed the receptionist, to her face, for the apparent “error”. Still, the charge for materials was R247, rivalling the total to my original mechanic. In summary, I found Talbot Motors to be uncooperative, grossly overpriced, unhelpful, evasive and rude. This business cannot be recommended and should not be trusted.

I was put off at the first impressions of the workshop, then i saw the amazing work they do, and the rich history of the business, after that i was sold!
