SHORT CV: CYRIL JM CLARKESpent childhood in bilingual family (father: English; mother: Afrikaans) Completed BA degree (majors: English & Afrikaans/Dutch) in 1979. Taught English full-time at different high schools in the Western Cape from 1977 to 2005. Simultaneously did part-time freelance translating and editing / proof reading of a wide variety of texts for several entities (including the Absa KKNK). Translated 4 English one-act plays into Afrikaans for use by high school pupils. Was CEO of the Oudtshoorn Tourism Bureau (2005 – 2010) and published 4 travel articles in South African Magazines. Responsible for the writing, translation and editing of all marketing collateral used at local and international tourism expos. Full-time freelance translator of a whole range of texts since August 2010
