Peak High Mountaineering is owned by Gavin Raubenheimer and has been operating since 1992. The business is registered with Tourism KwaZulu-Natal as a Tour Operator.Gavin is a past President of the KwaZulu-Natal Section of the Mountain Club of SA. He has been involved in mountain rescue since 1992 and since 2005 has been the Convener of Mountain Rescue in the province. He is sponsored by first Ascent outdoor clothing company and by RAM Mountaineering.PEAK HIGH guides many different hikes, treks and climbs in the Drakensberg, Kwa-Zulu Natal (KZN). But trips to the Cederberg, Magaliesberg, etc. are also common. These trips are from one day to up to ten days in length. These trails are run on request and cater for small groups or even one client at a time. 

The highest mountain in southern Africa is Thabana Ntlenyana (3 482m or 11 424ft) and is situated in the Kingdom of Lesotho, just west of Sani Pass. The highest peak within the borders of South Africa is Mafadi (3 450m or 11 322ft) and is located in the central Drakensberg. The entire uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park, which contains the Drakensberg Mountains, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserved for is natural fauna, flora and cultural heritage. It consists of an escarpment that runs for more than 240-kilometers, starting at Sentinel Peak in the north and ending at the Devil’s Knuckles in the south.
