The greater Grootbrak area is somewhat backward as everyone will know, similar mentality people as in Mosselbay. How does the saying go, if you're not used to any better why would you expect much or strive for more... if you raise a dog on dry white bread how will it ever know what meat tastes like?? That is how it is at Groenkloof. Possibly the ugliest retirement Centre in SA, absolutely no green, no trees, no personality. The worst place to put your parents! My mother has been there, the victim of a cruel curator. She is starved and sometimes left to sit in one place, as the one staff member yesterday told me from nine am to 5 pm. Go sit on one chair for eight hours!! 86 years old she lost 10 kg in one year. The layout design of this place must have been by some very narrow minded person as think of it like this.. if you are old and lonely and frail, why should you not be able to see into distance, sit under a tree, see the blue sky, see a bird not ever again??Groenkloof = Prison.
