Gravelotte is an underground and opencast operation, where various research programmes are underway focussed on enhancing gold recoveries in the different ore bodies extracted. Feasibility studies undertaken on the mine have increased the resource from a 1-million ounce deposit to potentially over 10-million ounces. Specialised technologies being applied allow a low-cost extraction of less than 0,4gpt for lower grade ore bodies.
