Checker Hire is a division of Transtech specialising in the short term rental and spot hire of waste trucks and road sweepers in Cape Town, South Africa.

Checker Hire started up in 2003 as a hiring agency specialising in short term rental of refuse trucks and sweepers. It became apparent that there was a big demand for backup / stand-in vehicles for municipalities and private contractors. Due to the nature of the waste management industry, vehicles do break down, which causes down-time and eventually lack of service.
