As human beings we go through periods in our life where we feel overwhelmed by life and its problems. Feeling stuck in these times is natural and often being able to talk to someone who is objective can help us not only triumph over our problems but also use them to grow as a person and become the optimal you. I’ve heard that therapy is for people whom have problems.... Aren’t we all experiencing some or other difficulty or challenge? I prefer to believe that therapy is for those that would like to overcome their problems, rise above their challenges and grow despite their difficulties. As a clinical psychologist I work with a wide array of difficulties, ranging from everyday problems to the more severe. I approach each client as a unique case as I acknowledge that no two people are the same and therefore no "one size fits all" approach to therapy exists. I therefore adopt a wide array of therapeutic techniques to optimally benefit each client.Fees are charge
“The good life is a process, not a state of being” quoted Carl Rogers. “It is a direction, not a destination”. A quote that brings great meaning personally and professionally, in that everyone despite their challenges can achieve their true potential. I believe that each person is stronger and more resilient than they perceive. By providing a therapeutic space that is non-judgemental, supportive and safe to allow individuals to face their fears, to do what is difficult but necessary to reach their ultimate destination and establish a life that feels good on the inside and looks good on the outside. I, therefore, structure the therapeutic process to allow each person to gather the necessary skills, tools, and insight to reach their optimal potential. I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa with an integrative training background. I work predominantly within a Cognitive Behavioural Therapeutic Paradigm. However, I am able to tailor the therapy to each client’s needs by incorporating different therapeutic techniques. I have completed training in Theraplay Level-One and Marschak Interaction Method (MIM), accredited by the Theraplay Institute. Furthermore, I’ve trained with Nancy McWilliams on Individuality and Mental Health issues. I have also attended various Cognitive Behavioural Therapy courses to further develop my skills and knowledge on the Therapeutic Paradigm. I obtained a Honours Degree in Psychology at the University of Johannesburg. During the following year, I completed a certification in Practical Psychometry and a Master’s Degree in Research Psychology at the University of Johannesburg. A few years after, I then completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at North West University, Potchefstroom. I was placed at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital in Pretoria for my internship year and I completed my community service in the Ekurhuleni Clinics. Throughout my training, I developed a wide range of skills and expertise in working with adults, adolescents, and children from all different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. I continuously develop my experience and knowledge through personal supervision and professional courses. PR 043 8693 / PS 013 1318
