A sensational new Buffet and Restaurant – Rockafellas – has opened at the Golden Horse Casino. This exciting concept of going back in time offers discerning Pietermaritzburg diners a mixture of great 30’s and 40’s era mood and memorabilia presented in an atmosphere of relaxed swanky elegance. The theme creates a unique, yet comfortable, jazzy, “speak-easy” feel.On offer is an exciting variety of scrumptious, mouth-watering dining experiences for most palates. The open plan buffet is designed to be interactive with our diners and our team of 10 chefs’ creativity will be an essential part of the 110 or so dishes on offer. These include 2 different spit roasts, bakes, casseroles, curries, chefs’ specialties, chicken grills, fish, pizza, pasta and stir fry (choose your own ingredients), both hot and cold starters and a dazzling display of desserts, not to mention a variety of homemade breads from our own bakery.

“A really pleasant experience. Spacious, modern furniture, a clean, fresh feel to the restaurant. Multilevel. The waitrons were enthusiastic and attentive and the night manager had a good presence. The starters were finger snacks and salads mostly with a few hot pots like chicken livers and mussels. The main course held a large variety of foods including pizzas, vegetable dishes, pastas, sliced roasts, curries and fish. Desserts included creme custard, pavlova fruit salads, jellies, cakes and waffles. Every single dish was very well presented, difficult to do with such a large buffet, but Rockafellas pulled it off tonight. At R175 pp including soft drinks, it was a very good value meal, much better than expected, in a friendly family environment, but still private enough to enjoy a romantic meal.”
