Life Rituals supplies unique funeral products, handmade in Cape Town. Our burial shrouds are eco-friendly as they are made from biodegradable materials such as wool, hemp, organic cotton, silk and natural colour dyes. Our urns are made of recycled paper, salt, flour, beeswax, essential oils and gelatine and decorated using hemp yarn, shells, feathers and seeds. Every attempt is made to source locally produced and sustainable materials to reduce our environmental footprint and encourage local business. The shrouds are an ecologically friendly and creative alternative to the standard wooden burial caskets and are suitable for cremation. The softer textures of the burial shroud are wrapped around the body of a loved one, and friends and relatives may feel closer to the deceased than when they are placed in a cold hard coffin. This helps make the transition from life to death feel more gentle and natural. Life Rituals products give an opportunity to embrace the receiving and letting go of life, easing the mourning process. The passing of a family member or friend brings up many emotions and memories. One of the options we offer is that family and friends may decorate part of the burial shroud with relevant colours, images or patterns commemorating the life of the deceased. Poems or prayers may also be included. If a separate cover is decorated, this may be removed just before burial or cremation and taken home by the family. As well as ready-made products we offer guidance to create a farewell ritual or ceremony that is meaningful for you and in line with your beliefs.
