The Lupini family has been car mad for four generations. Rico's grandfather, Gigi Lupini raced the Mille Miglia three times from 1927 to '29 finishing third in the 5-liter class '29. When he relocated to SA in the '30s, Gigi remained car mad and even took his beloved Buick's and  Americana back to Europe on holiday with him - TJ plates and all.   In the late '50s Gigi established Scuderia Lupini - a team renowned in its day in South Africa running cars for many top drivers including John Love, Trevor Blokdyk, Doug Serrurrier, Horse Boyden and his sons Mario, Italo, and Gino (Rico's father).   Gigi Lupini was the first Ferrari owner in SA, he took delivery of his road going 250 convertible in 1958. It was his second Ferrari, the first was a 225s that had won the 1952 Monaco Grand Prix in one of two years that race was run for sports cars.   The Lupini passion for racing and cars was seen in Gigi's three sons as well as his grandsons whose weekends were often spent testing their limits on race tracks across South Africa.   Rico's love and passion for cars was not only seen on the racetracks but also when he established Bob - Ric motors in 1990, the same year his oldest son, Roberto was born. Bob - Ric is now a successful business, a landmark in the Milnerton area and a legacy to his grandfather and fathers passion for the motor vehicle. The 80 year old family passion has been passed onto Rico's three sons, Roberto, Paolo and Gino, who are all inspired by their fathers racing and business success and hope to continue the legacy as the fourth generation Lupini sons.
