Smiles Foods was incorporated in 1982 in Durban by Mr Moosa Ismail , who bought a 2 kg bag of cheese pops from Johannesburg and suggested retailing it in Natal In February 1983, amidst humble beginnings and a modest amount of capital, Smiles Foods started manufacturing its very own cheese pops and hot pops in Natal, the first plant being in Acutt Avenue, Briardene – Durban North
