Nina de Beer is an architect with a small home-based practice based in Knysna. She has a special interest in sustainable architecture. She has, since moving to the Garden Route, developed a love for timber frame structures and designed a few residential homes in Sedgefield, a small town near Knysna.Conventional brick building or composite structures are also in her field of expertise and sound design principles which include ecological design, an ethical response to the history, geography, morphology and climate of the site are some of the principles she aims to develop in her designs. Her ideal would be to work with clients or developers who share these ideologies.South Africa's temperate climate and the historic town of Knysna as backdrop lends itself to infinite possibilities for buildings which enact with its people and the environment successfully.
