What the IPL did for cricket RASSPL will do for fishing Recreational fishing in South Africa generates more direct income to South Africa than rugby and cricket an estimated 15 Billion a year according to a study done by the University of Stellenbosch in 2007 and should be close to 18 Billion by 2013 Sport fishing in America generates more income for America than cattle farming and citrus farming combined. RASSPL Aim To create a competition that is open to all anglers from around the country without having to join a club or association to be able to fish. The competition will give equal opportunity for all anglers to win prizes as the prizes are awarded for the biggest of each species therefore making it possible for anglers of all skills level the chance of claiming a prize. The introduction of the RASSPL competitions will help kick start various struggling economies including B&Bs Hotels holiday resorts restaurants tackle shops and any industries involved in the fishing industry around the country that are battling to stay in business and the introduction of cash and big prize competitions will drive anglers to go fishing again and create sales desperately needed for the struggling markets. The competitions will educate the public about the importance of catch and release angling in South Africa and reward anglers so they don’t have to sell fish to raise money to support there sport. The competitions are 100% catch and release and help promote sustainable fishing along our shores.

Wow, click on the image below and have a browse through the report issued by the students of the Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science, Rhodes University who conducted field tests once again during our RASSPL Africa Nationals tournament in Port Elizabeth
