The Unitarian Church of Cape Town is part of an international, inter-faith, non-creedal and non-doctrinal religious association which began in Europe in the 16th century. Many have become disillusioned with orthodox beliefs and are searching for a new spiritual home. For those who identify with the principles stated below, we offer that home. Our discussions are open, honest and deeply exploratory. We offer a safe environment for thinking, questing people, including those who are finding their beliefs nonsustaining and also those who have given up on belief entirely. We also welcome people of all cultures, races, creeds and sexual orientations. Among our members are those from many spiritual groups. We have no polemic and no desire to convert or persuade. We honor the divine wherever it may be found. Ours is a thoughtful, richly exploratory, holistic and compassionate way of being, honoring the sacred, as well as man's finest attributes, which are encapsulated in the seven Unitarian principles stated below: We uphold: (1) the inherent worth and dignity of every human being; (2) justice, equity and compassion in all human relations; (3) a free and responsible search for truth and meaning; (4) acceptance of one another and encouragement of spiritual growth in our congregations; (5) honest open discussion, the right of conscience, and the use of democratic processes within our congregations and in society at large; (6) the goal of world community with peace, liberty and justice for all; (7) and respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which all living things are a part. Please feel free to: (1) Visit us on a Sunday at 64 Hout Street, Cape Town (10h00); (2) Participate in one of our Small Group conducted during the week; (3) Ask for assistance in Child Blessings or Weddings that are tailored to your religious or secular preferences.
