Tellumat Telecoms Unclaimed

Born out of Plessey, Tellumat has a long heritage of innovation in the electronics industry. Plessey was founded in 1917 in the UK. The company established a South African presence in the early 60's and listed on the JSE in 1995. In 1998, after Plessey was acquired by Dimension Data, Tellumat was established from existing ex-Plessey business, as a privately owned company. In the six years since its inception, Tellumat has completed the development of new products in nine key product families. This has required an investment of R80 million in research and development, drawing on the intellectual capability provided by our engineers and technologists in our development teams. Tellumat received prestigious kudos from the South African Department of Trade and Industry in 2002, including awards for Manufacturing Excellence (large and medium enterprises), Export Achievement (large and medium enterprises), BEE (empowerment) and The Overall Business Enterprise of the Year Award. The DTI awards aim to recognise excellence in a range of business areas deemed critical to the success of individual companies and the future of South Africa's economy. Tellumat also supports the Proudly South African campaign to promote products and services which are helping to create work opportunities and economic growth in our country.
