Many Neighbourhood Watches have desperately raised funds to install LPR cameras. They may have been told "how valuable these are to fight crime." But is that their only value? It has also surfaced that in fact certain persons were marketing this technology and advising communities to get them installed, only so that they could collect valuable information. While it identifies criminal vehicles, it also identifies vehicles of interest. Such as vehicles which the owners have defaulted on their bank payments. When these financial institutions try to repossess their vehicles, they often don't know where to find them. For this, banks pay a handsome reward or "finders fee." So your LPR cameras may have cost quite a lot of money to install but are in fact making certain people a lot more money. For this, there is an investigation as well. This is in blatant defiance of the POPI Act which forbids information be used for other purposes of what the information was originally collected for. We are urgently looking for the persons viewed in the attached video as they can provide valuable information and evidence to the investigation. If you know their whereabouts or have their contact information, please contact this forum urgently. ... See more
