Dr Shaheer Ballim Claimed

Dr Shaheer Ballim (an ophthalmologist at Netcare Parklands Hospital) had carried out my eye surgery in 2023. One of the requirements prior to carrying out the surgery was that he had to be paid cash upfront prior to the surgery. He and his secretary had assured me that all the necessary invoices will be provided to me so that I can claim this amount from my medical aid. These invoices were not provided and after many months of requesting these invoices from Dr Ballim, he refused to be of any assistance. It was only via the use of an attorney at an additional cost to myself and threat of lodging a complaint with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, did Dr Ballim provide the necessary invoices that were required by my medical aid. If you are paying cash to Dr Ballim, please ensure that the invoice that is provided by Dr Ballim is sufficient for your medical aid to process your claim as it will be very difficult and stressful to obtain the required invoice post-surgery.
