Introduction Merging Pastoral Care and Social Work as a practice is a new venture. It brings to bear experience in social work and clinical methods in pastoral care - to provide a holistic approach to therapeutic processes. This is vital in a world where there is often polarization between the secular and the spiritual. A balanced view of the individual as physical, spiritual and psychological being. is taken in this approach. Different models in therapy will be used which reflect this eclectic approach – models from pastoral care eg. Four Phase Model and from psychology, eg. CBT and Person-centred, as well as from the social sciences eg. Narrative therapy and Egan’s solution-focused model. Throughout the focus would be the individual as a unique person created in the image of God and creating meaning through encountering God’s presence in all life events.
