Taking a side step, when talking to Elise Buitendag at the recent launch of her memoirs of her years as the LNBG’s first botanist I learnt that one of the garden design tenets was that paths must be wide enough for at least two to three people.  So when one has to manage a crowd of more than 20 the party stretches out beyond 50 metres, particularly when the minor paths are narrower. This actually suits our style of exploration, in that our walks are not guided by experts but there is a challenge to self-guide or talk to folks who may be more or less knowledgeable than you. As you will note from the selection of photos below people spread out then bunched, discussed and studied and hopefully learnt.  The focus on this group of plants will be repeated again in the future.
