Olerato Agribusiness was formed in April 2009 and is registered as a Close Corporation. The organization was established to participate for emerging farmers agricultural development at national and regional levels, to enhance their contribution to food security and sustainable livelihoods. This was after realizing that, the majority of the farmers or people in the rural areas in south Africa have had little access to Agricultural education and hence they lack basic knowledge both theory and practical on how to carry on their agricultural activities. They are however marginalized in terms of access to, control and ownership of land. The organization focuses on skills development and improving access to land because they are the most important and inseparable productive resources, which form the basis for successful agricultural production, leading to food security and sustainable livelihoods. Therefore, it is the organization’s mandate to contribute to poverty reduction to achieve sustainable livelihoods. The organization seeks to engage with the Provincial, National, Regional and Pan African blocs to address the issues of integration of skills development, land and water for food security and sustainable livelihoods.
