Chef Angelo Capponaro has become something of a legend among those who know of Vera Vita, and it’s not just because of the foot-long tattoos garnishing his forearms. It’s the giant charred pizzas from his wood-fired oven, the brilliant melanzane involtino (brinjal, also baked in the oven), the zuppa paradiso and the rustic pastas that have done the trick. His wonderful roasted quail with polenta surely has something to do with it too. The Nutella pizza is still a favourite and highly recommendable way to end the meal, but be prepared –it’s almost a main course in itself.

We sat down as first time customers ... only with good feedback from friends and family about this restaurant.. sat For 2hrs listening to a group of 4 men screaming and using the foulest language iv ever heard at the top of their voices....Whilst trying to finish my food his little buddy in a wheelchair would whisper in his ear and make fun and look at our table.... now are we adults or not!!!!! After eating I asked for the owner and truth behold it was one of the men at the table..... wen I asked the waitress to call the owner he got to us with his arrogant attitude and wen I told him that I find his language unacceptable esp. In the presence of ladies and families that were trying to enjoy an afternoon lunch- his excuse was that "I haven't seen these guys in a long time" in his pathetic little Italian accent!!!!!! After another set of customers agreed with us he carried on to tell us that we were "SOUTH AFRICAN PIECES OF SHIT" AND WE SHUD LEAVE HIS RESTAURANT!!! NOW being from the so
