GROTTO BLUE FLAG BEACHGrotto BeachGrotto Beach is a Blue Flag certified beach famous for its pristine stretch of untouched sand, coastal and marine life, spectacular mountain views, gentle shorebreak and splendid lagoon at the mouth of the Klein River. The beach itself stretches for 2 km from Voelklip up until the lagoon. On the opposite bank of the lagoon lies Die Plaat. Die Plaat is part of the Walker Bay Nature Reserve, which covers the next 12 km of untouched beach stretching all the way to De Kelders at Gansbaai. As you walk along this stretch you may spot some rarely sighted wildlife. Although the waves aren’t ideal for surfing, the lagoon is well suited for many water sports, such as canoeing and kite-surfing. The spacious beach gives its visitors plenty of room for picnics and play, but braai-facilities are also offered on a green field behind the beach restaurant and at the parking lot on the lagoon side.
