With both the beach and lagoon, Gonubie is a little piece of paradise on the Eastern Cape coast. Gonubie is a water lover’s dream. Gonubie Beach has a tidal pool and wooden walkway to protect the dunes. When the tide is out, the lagoon is a great place to collect shells and discover fascinating marine life. Water sports like river and rock fishing, surfing, paddling, and boating can be enjoyed in the ocean or lagoon. Keep an eye out for whales and dolphins from the cliffs above the lagoon.The Gonubie River is navigable for 5km and is a fantastic spot for picnics. The Strandloper Trail is a 5-day beach trail that leads along rocky shores, sandy beaches, grassy areas, and coastal shrubs, past the ocean, tidal pools, river estuaries, forests, and sand dunes.
