Description/Remarks
We supply the South African made DCP - Dynamic Cone Penetrometer. price only R2399.00 excl. VAT The DCP is used for the testing of soil compaction and on-site soil density tests. The Dynamic Cone Penetrometer finds its application in geotechnical investigations to obtain information on the physical properties of soil and rock around a site to design earthworks and foundations for proposed structures and for repair of distress to earthworks and structures caused by subsurface conditions The DCP is used to measure the resistivity of soils or backfill materials required for underground transmission lines, oil and gas pipelines, Laying of Fiber Optical Cables The Dynamic Cone Penetrometer is very useful for the testing of soil compaction and testing of soil strength attributes of penetrability The DCP is an in-situ tester to determine CBR of soil; it is a yardstick for the cell-tower site preparation as well as for trenching and laying of fiber optical cables. The DCP finds use in a large variety of commercial applications, such as: Cell Tower Site Preparation and Construction. The DCP is used for soil compaction testing. Trenching, Laying & Installation of Fiber Optical Cables. The DCP is used for in situ density tests. Cable Trenching, Pipe-Laying. The DCP is used in Quality Control of soil compaction. Trench Reinstatement: Use of the DCP to control compaction of granular fill. The DCP uses an 8 kg steel mass falling 575 mm that strikes the anvil to cause penetration of a 20mm diameter cone (60° vertex angle) that has been seated in the bottom of a hand augured hole. The method ST6 for using the DCP describes the determination of the rate of penetration of the Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) into a natural or compacted material by virtue of the built-in sliding hammer. The penetration rate is inversely proportional to the resistance of the ground to the penetration of the cone of the DCP and may be related, inter alia, to the in situ CBR or soil density. The DCP may be used to assess the density of a fairly uniform material by relating density to penetration rate (DN) on the same material. In this way under-compacted or "soft spots" can be identified, even though the DCP does not measure density directly. A field DCP measurement results in a field or in situ CBR and will normally not correlate with the laboratory or soaked CBR of the same material. The test is thus intended to evaluate the situ strength of a material under prevailing conditions. Compaction levels of pavement sub-grade and base layers have been determined by means of in-place density testing. - The DCP can effectively be used in quality control of granular base layer compaction as well as during backfill compaction of pavement drain trenches.
