St Clement'S Home Based Care Project Unclaimed

PROJECT PROFILE 1. INTRODUCTIONThe project was initiated at the insistence of the then Parish Priest of the St. Clement’s Catholic Church - the late Rev. Fr. Michael Sibeko, after he observed that every other funeral he conducted was as a result of Aids related infection. The house calls he made were mostly of people who were HIV infected, he observed that there were no support systems and most of the people were amongst the poorest of the poor - i.e. High rate of unemployment and poverty. The project was registered in March 2001 as an NPO (Non-Profit Organisation) - and funding was received from the National Department of Social Development.
