Sharon Farr and are the dynamic and versatile documentary filmmakers who lead the team at Shoot the Breeze – the production company they started in 1995. Lee’s 20 years in the television industry as a producer/director, editor and cameraperson combined with ’s print journalism background plus 17 years researching, producing, directing and scripting local and international documentaries and news features creates a highly competent and experienced documentary duo. While their core business is making beautifully crafted broadcast and non-broadcast documentary films and television programmes that inspire and effect positive change, they have also produced numerous corporate videos. The most recent being a video for INVESTEC South Africa’s web-based launch of the Asset Management Department’s iSelect platform for a primary audience of Financial Advisors. The short film combined dramatized scenarios using INVESTEC staff with traditional documentary interviews and visuals. See .Beyond the 352-part FREE SPIRIT lifestyle magazine show that aired on SABC 2 and 3 for the past eight years, their documentaries continue to be rebroadcast on SABC, e.tv and M-Net, having received acclaim at local and international film festivals and industry awards.FREE SPIRIT received a for Best Magazine Show at the South African Film & Television Association Awards in 2007.Their documentary Love, Communism, Revolution & Rivonia – Bram Fischer’s Story receivedthe Best South African Documentary Audience Award at The Encounters Documentary Festival in 2007. Commissioned and first broadcast by M-Net, the feature-length historical biography also screened at ’s 3 Continents, Apollo, KKNK and Cape Winelands Film Festivals, the SA Film Festival in Parliament and internationally at the Fribourg and Mumbai Film Festivals. It was also nominated for a 2008 South African Film & Television Association Golden Horn Award in the Best Documentary Feature category and KANNA Feature Film Award.MASINDY’S STORY, a 48-minute documentary profile on Masindy Apie, an HIV positive Khayelitsha woman who is a peer counsellor and HIV activist first aired on SABC 2’s Our Nation in Colour in 2005. It received the World TV Award at the Asia Media Summit for the Best Documentary focusing on HIV in 2007 and screened at the Encounters Outreach Festival in 2006, the Apollo Film Festival in 2007 where it received the Best South African Documentary Award and the KKNK Film Festival in 2008.GOOD VIBRATIONS, a 26-minute documentary exploring how different belief systems use sound to connect to the Divine. The film received the World TV Award for Promoting Religious Understanding and Tolerance for 2006 at the Asia Media Summit and first aired on SABC 2’s Issue
