What is an Audiologist? An Audiologist is a skilled healthcare practitioner with a degree in Audiology, who can diagnose hearing disorders and identify problems with your ears and auditory pathway all the way up to the auditory centres of the brain. After diagnosis, an audiologist will help a person with a hearing loss find meaningful solutions to restore quality of life. We apply our skills and knowledge to recommend suitable tools in the form of hearing aids and other devices, and plan rehabilitation around our patients’ hearing needs and communication lifestyle. Audiologists understand the anatomy and function of the ear and brain’s auditory system and balance or vestibular pathway, and the consequences of hearing and balance impairment. This means we can educate, treat and support persons with hearing loss, tinnitus, hyperacusis, misophonia and balance disorders.
